Is porn addiction a real clinical concern?
The language varies between clinicians — some use "compulsive sexual behavior," others "sex addiction" — but the pattern being described is consistent: behavior that continues despite real consequences, escalates over time, and resists willpower alone. What matters clinically isn't the label, it's whether the behavior is costing you things you care about.

While in couples therapy, should each partner do individual therapy with a separate therapist?
Best practices in couples therapy recommends each partner does their own individual therapy that compliments their couples therapy goals.

What does "evidence-based" actually mean here?
It means the approaches used have been studied in clinical research and shown to produce measurable outcomes — not that they work identically for everyone. The Gottman Method and EFT both have substantial research bases in couples work; CSAT training draws on established addiction and trauma literature.
Peer support and recovery communities
Therapy and peer support do different jobs. Many clients find the combination more durable than either on its own.
